You Are What You Eat

Written by Brittany Jacobs

Times are changing rapidly and the age of technology has enabled us the ability to practically search anything we desire online. I encourage everyone reading this to continue reading and educating yourself from the various sources that people like myself have created to WAKE UP people to the reality we are living in.

I am confident and feel it is safe to assume that the audience and readers of Divine Society are well aware of the ways in which we are being controlled through various outlets such as institutions, mass media, and our food and water supply. Many of you may have read articles or viewed documentaries exposing behind the scenes of our food supply as well as the other harmful additives that are ubiquitous in the foods you and I are surrounded by daily. Food Inc, Cowspiracy, Forks and Knives, and Fed Up are just some of the many films you can access and learn more about the origins and conditions of our current food supply. Here’s the trailer for Food Inc. for those of you who have never seen it or are interested in learning more.

At this moment, I ask that you stop what you are doing and ponder this question:
“WHERE DOES OUR FOOD COME FROM?”

Your answer is probably the same as mine… I honestly have not a clue and I am confused as to why more people are not more concerned or aware of this issue.

Over the past few months or so, I have been studying and learning more about our current food supply through websites, documentaries, books, and real-life experiences and have grown a huge awareness at all of the issues it holds for our generation and those to come. Through my research, I was astounded by the countless articles available that describe the dangers of our food supply and how it is affecting us.

To begin with, here is a picture exposing the top 10 corporations that control a vast majority of the food supply.

10-Corporations-Control-What-We-Eat(CLICK TO EXPAND)

The scariest part in my opinion is how the illusion of choice in our supermarket is exposed through the picture above.

What problems are being caused by modern agriculture, both conventional and organic?

The problems that modern agriculture, both conventional and organic is out of control and needs to come to a stop. The misuse of the land for this form of agriculture has destroyed 1/3 of our top soil. This practice is extremely insufficient in many ways. The foods we are eating are lacking the minerals and nutrients we need because they are not being fed the proper foods themselves. The energy input and output is less efficient and produces a lot of waste products. These crops are also grown on large farms that are controlled by corporations and sprayed with harmful chemicals. The crops we see in the supermarkets and all around us essentially are modified and domesticated. We are no longer living sustainably on this earth and it is largely due to the practices of money hungry agribusinesses.

I came to the conclusion that this issue is one of the more tangible issues of our worldwide issues that CAN and NEEDS to be addressed NOW. Not only are we being controlled through mass media, institutions, and other forces, our own FOOD supply is being severely altered in ways that are damaging our vehicles a.k.a. our BODIES. What we eat highly affects us physically, mentally, and emotionally and it is important during these times to be feeding our bodies the proper nutrients it needs to thrive.

food

“Food provides us with more than the sum of its nutrients – protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, and minerals. Food is condensed and transformed energy. Eating is a way to extract life sustaining energy from food. When you eat, you process and absorb the forces of nature stored in your food. For example, plants store light through photosynthesis. Eating food releases the energies and nutrients stored in food for your body to absorb. In assimilating your food, the physical and energetic forces of your food interact with you on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels – and in turn determine your health and the quality of your life.

Why Should YOU Care?

What you choose to eat determines the quality of the nutrients and energy that you bring into your body. We are affected quite differently by fresh, whole, live, organic foods compared to processed foods containing the chemicals of artificial colors and flavors, preservatives, pesticides, hormones, and antibiotics. Think of the vital energy you get from organic foods which have either been freshly harvested or which can create a plant from the whole grain or legume when planted. In comparison, consider the energy you get in eating meat and processed foods which also give you pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, preservatives, and artificial flavors and colors.

In addition to digesting the food, our liver and kidneys must work harder to process all these chemicals in meat and processed food compared to organic food. Furthermore, when you eat meat, you take in the animal’s energy, including the energy of how it was raised and the fear and trauma from being slaughtered.”

The way most of the food is processed and made is through that hands of people of dislike their jobs or the product is surround in an unhealthy, low-vibrational setting such as the chicken or cow farms that exist. When we consumer these kinds of products, we lower our very own vibrational field and are adding unnatural chemicals and additives that our bodies do not work well with.

You are what you eat, and if you ask me I do not want to be a walking cancer magnet, nor am I interested in walking around with a low-vibrational field because of the food I am being exposed to. Many of the chemicals that are added to today’s food products are essentially cancer agents. Here’s a link with chemicals to look for in the ingredients listed on food products and avoid eating to the best of your ability.
Not to mention the list of chemicals that are in our food supply that are BANNED in other countries.

Asides from these issues, exists an even larger problem on a global scale: the rise in climate change.

Cowspiracy is a groundbreaking feature-length environmental documentary following an intrepid filmmaker as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it.

According to the Huffington Post:

“The billions of chickens, turkeys, pigs and cows who are raised for food each year in the U.S. produce a tremendous amount of excrement, releasing methane and other greenhouse gases into our atmosphere. Methane, which is at least 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide, accounts for 9 percent of the greenhouse-gas emissions in this country. And the 523 million chickens raised and killed each year in Delaware and Maryland alone generate enough waste to fill the dome of the U.S. Capitol about 50 times in a single year–or almost once a week. And each cow emits approximately 66 to 79 gallons of methane every single day. There are currently 88 million cattle in the United States. You do the math. Together, these cows reportedly produce more methane than landfills, natural gas leaks and fracking.”

According to the Environmental Defense Fund, “If every American skipped ONE meal of chicken per week and substituted vegetables and grains … the carbon dioxide savings would be the same as taking more than half a million cars off of U.S. roads.”

-A German study conducted in 2008 concluded that a meat-eater’s diet is responsible for more than seven times the volume of greenhouse-gas emissions that a vegan’s diet is.
-A Loma Linda University study shows that vegans have the smallest carbon footprint, generating a 41.7 percent smaller volume of greenhouse gasses than meat-eaters do and a 13.9 percent smaller volume than vegetarians.
-The president of the Worldwatch Institute has said that the “world’s super-sized appetite for meat” is one of the main reasons why greenhouse-gas emissions are increasing rapidly.
-According to researchers from the University of California-Riverside, cooking just one charbroiled burger causes as much pollution as driving an 18-wheeler for 143 miles.
-Researchers at the University of Chicago concluded that switching from a standard American diet to vegan meals is more effective in the fight against climate change than switching from a standard American car to a hybrid is.

A healthy vegetarian diet can be a powerful aid to your development and healing process. Vegetables bring the light and energy they absorb and store through photosynthesis into your body. Grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds bring into your body the light, energy, and life force that can create a new living plant. This way of eating creates a whole new experience and lightness in your body.

How low vibrational food affects our vibrational field

The energy of natural food changes the vibration of your nervous system so that it forces the lower vibration, negative thoughts out of your system. The negative thoughts become incompatible with the higher vibration of energy that begins to fill your body. In this manner, the energy work of Reiki and other healing energy modalities work synergistically with a healthy vegetarian diet to support your development and healing process.

As you work with healing energy to release blocked energy in your body, you often release dense, contracting, negative thoughts. Your body often stores negativity in excess fat as blocked energy. You release this negative, stored energy from your body when you let go of the negativity of anger, fear, hate, blame, and guilt.

You can support this movement and release with fresh, natural foods abundant in healing energy. The light and vital energy of fresh, natural foods help you to face your life issues so you can more easily release repressed emotions and thoughts from your mind and body. If you are ready to handle it, the light and energy of a healthy vegetarian diet can also activate an equal inner light that increases the strength of your inner spiritual light.

I have come to the realization how out of control this issue truly is and have discovered that my goal is educate myself and others on how we can solve this problem. For those who have developed food sensitives or are concerned about this dilemma please read this carefully, THERE IS A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM!

First we must begin by raising awareness, boycotting the companies above by not purchasing the items they sell, start buying local (farmers markets, whole foods), avoid consuming meat products to the best of your ability, and attempt to begin your own food garden in your own backyard.

The next step is to educate yourself of the practice of PERMACULTURE.

What is Permaculture?
3460872Permaculture is a creative design process that is based on ethics and design principles. It guides us to mimic the patterns and relationships we can find in nature and can be applied to all aspects of human habitation, from agriculture to ecological building, from appropriate technology to education and even economics.

By adopting the ethics and applying these principles in our daily life we can make the transition from being dependent consumers to becoming responsible producers. This journey builds skills and resilience at home and in our local communities that will help us prepare for an uncertain future with less available energy.

The techniques and strategies used to apply these principles vary widely depending on the location, climatic conditions and resources that are available. The methods may differ, but the foundations to this holistic approach remain constant. By learning these principles you can acquire valuable thinking tools that help you become more resilient in an era of change.

Here’s a short video interviewing David Holgrem—

Here is one of my favorite videos describing this term that has lots of great information and ideas.

Conventional Agriculture
-destroys soil
-not regulated
-controlled by corporations
-non-sustainable
-degrades natural balance
-100% less efficient (energy input)
-less nutrients
-modified
-domesticated

Permaculture
-works WITH nature, rather than AGAINST it
-high nutritional value
-all natural
-low maintenance
-useful products (food, fuel, fiber, forage, herbs, spices, poles, medicines, honey, dye plant, basketry material, seeds, income)
-biodiversity
-resilient/strong
-maximizes life
-recycles energy
-no waste

As we shift our ways of thinking and cultivate new ways of living, we move closer towards the heaven on earth we were meant to live on all along. It is time for people to gather together in their communities and neighborhoods to practice more sustainable living. Permaculture is a great solution to our food supply issues and is a system that needs to be learned and used by those who supply and grow our food.

Personally, I have attempted to purchase “organic” foods and more natural ingredients as well as avoiding any chemical filled or genetically modified products the best of my ability. The problem I have discovered however, is I simply cannot afford it and the products are not necessarily certified organic or natural. The products that flood the supermarkets, convenience stores, and gas stations are food-like products and filled with dangerous chemicals. Our farm lands are essentially being raped with today’s control of food supply and destroying our planet at a faster rate ever predicted.

On that note, I am leaving you with another quote to keep in your mind to remind you the importance of eating well :)
